On few occasions I have been asked how come that people have 2 blogs with almost identical amount of traffic, yet they make less money with technology blogs then with let say celebrity blogs.

Think about it this way, techy people have been online for ever and they know what adsense is and also they know that if they click on it

A. They might land on some crappy website

B. The ads are just not something they click on

C. They are afraid of hitting website that could be harmful or have “not work related stuff”

Said that technology websites include such people therefore adsense might not be the right choice, but instead you could use 125×125 banners or text link ads.

On other hand celebrity blogs will include younger and older generation of people that don’t know much about internet and don’t know what google ads are.

So when they are on celebrity blog and see google adsense, they think that is just another link they might like even more due to “description of advertisers page”.

Just the other day by asking my friend why do you click on such ads?

He said “Well because it interested me and because I thought it’s part of the website”.

I thought this post might be helpful to you to chose if adsense is for your website or not, in case you own different niche blogs.

Make Money Online blogs tend to make also good amount of clicks just because there is so much people that want to start making money online.

Well the time came again , google is updating Page Rank on various pages. So if you see your Page Rank fluctuating from PR 0 to PR 5 for example don’t worry, wait a bit and you will be set with only 1 number.

What I use to do is check my future page rank you can tell what you are going to get by next page rank update.

If it happens that you have 0 don’t worry about it future page rank sometimes can be offline because google servers deny the request.

For couple of weeks now I have been writing different type of posts and I did that to see reaction on comments and also traffic.

I would like to focus more on few specific topics of blogging then going back and forth. By doing that I will not confuse you what this blog is about.

First of all this blog is about helping other bloggers add income stream to their blogs so here you have already two niches some of you call it “blog helper” and “make money online”.

Yet couple weeks ago I wrote topic about wordpress security and got very popular first because I rank no.1 in google about it seconds because I discover it and third I wrote how to protect your wordpress.

Such topics I haven’t cover on this blog yet. I was wondering if that is something I should include in my blog posting?

I know a lot about wordpress security (I use to work at Norton) so viruses, trojans and malware are my thing.

If that is what you would like to see in my next post’s let me know, comment bellow and I will start re-organizing my posts.

This morning I was looking for some technology news and stumble upon an interesting, yet negative blog post attitude from Louis Gray who is well known marketer of Silicon Valley.

I just want you to be very careful to what you say in your post and how you express your self to public. Some things are better to keep for your self.

Couple weeks ago I downloaded Absolute Comments plugin just out of curriosity how it works, later on I started to like because I could replay to comments right from Admin dashboard. Now I feel the real power of Absolute Comments plugin for wordpress.

Get More Comments

There is two plugins that can get you more comments then you receive now.

Top Commentators (currently not working for 2.5 unless you hack it a bit) - If you want to say thanks to your commentators “top commentators” plugin is one way to do so. It provides backlink to  5-10 commentators that left most comments on your blog. (See in action on my sidebar)

Absolute Comments at first you think its only useful to you as admin on your blog, because you can replay to comments right from your dashboard.

But then if you get 20-30 comments a day you feel like not replaying them all but just few of them. Well that’s your fist blogging mistake, because all comments that you have not replayed now are left unanswered or ignored. I can assure you that with Absolute Comments you will replay to more comments if not all and you will not think it’s a waist of time replaying comments. (Not that I felt like that @ any time, I replay to 98% of comments.)

Here is one quick tip that might help you write content for your next blog post.

Many of bloggers are using google analytics or wordpress stats and use them just to see how much traffic they got. But why not using those services to write your next post?

Quick Blog Tip

In Google Analytics or Wordpress Stats find keywords that people searched and found your blog.

Don’t look at the keywords that have been hit hard like for example “make money online” if you ware carlocab blog owner. Rather search for keywords that have been hit once , twice or even three times and use them as your next blog post.

Let say for example somebody searched for “Blog Tips” on google and found your blog but content on your blog had only some relevance to keyword “Blog Tips”.

Now do your homework, research that keyword if you dont know much about it and then write about it. I bet in few days your ranking for that keyword will be better and that way you will gain more traffic.

When it comes to time, we are all sensative about it. Some of us work 8th hours and go to college, while others spend time blogging.

How much time do you spend blogging?

Why is it important to track your blogging time?

Few things I would like to share with you from my own experience about the time spent on blogging.

When I started this blog in april 2007 I spent about 18 hours almost every day, researching content writing content, building links and most important socialize. Now one year later I spend about 20 hours in one week!

Is that bad?

In my opinion you should prioritize your time and adjust it so that blogging does not impact your personal life. Downside of that is some people spend 20 hours a day for 3 years but I bet they have better ranking than you and I together.

What I am trying to say here is that if you are blogging and go to work and go to college you should not let one thing overlap the other. Set your time for college, for work and then blogging.

I know most of you would love to become famous and make money with your blog in less then one year, but in numerous of my posts I wrote that blogging isn’t easy. It requires a lot of patience, tactics and experience.

Here are few suggestions:

Writing 50 posts a week can be equal to writing 5 posts a week. So take your time write quality content not quantity content.

Spend at most 4-8 hours blogging that includes “socialize, build links, research content, write content”.

Once you feel that you could pay off all your financial needs from your blog, then you can spend more time to become even well known blogger as some bloggers are.

For past week or so, I am on Twitter almost daily for few hours. I have my Gmail on all the time, I get also instant messages from Twitter bot on updates from other Twitters that I follow.

Reason I joined Twitter is because I wanted to test it and see what is the power behind the twitter.

Traffic With Twitter

The more you post and the more you are replaying to other twitters that more traffic you get. Follow who follows you looks like it’s the general rule on twitter, but follow updates just on few of them. As far as the traffic, I only got 20 clicks a day or less comparing to other social networking websites that is poor. It might be so because I am new and many people don’t know I am on Twitter now too.

Socializing with other Bloggers

Some bloggers gave me an impression that Twitter is lame, so I stick with it in my mind “don’t register its lame” I mean when you look at it to be honest it is. There is nothing much then sending 100-200 or some people even 5000 updates a day and be happy somebody reads it unless you are cute girl, blogger with huge reputation like Problogger or DoshDosh or celebrity.

I started adding my favorite blogger that I talk to on occasion, from those “favorite bloggers” I got in touch with bloggers that are also more technologically orientated then just money money money. I also had few conversations with Darren Rowse he helped me a lot understand the tactics behind Twitter as he also posted on his blog last week.
